Grandparents are one of children’s most treasured family members. For me, my grandmother was a second mother. Seen as her favorite, and only, grandson she spoiled me. She loved to cook traditional meals and spread knowledge of foreign language. She had a passion for books, and loved reading new stories to me. After awhile, I got so accustomed to it, it was the only way I could sleep!
Years passed and we both grew older. Now in her old age, she is unable to live life the way she did in the past. Well aware of what she likes and is passionate about, I can return some of the love she gave to me. I cook meals she cooked before to remind her of treasured times. I read children and mystery books to her that she’s passionate about. I love the way she smiles and laughs when I treat her to something she treasures, whether it’s a good book or tasty candy. I love my grandmother and enjoy making her smile. What can I say… the torch has been passed.
